MURGHAB–RANGKUL Region, PAMIR OF TAJIKISTAN. Hunting in Tajikistan offers one of the most demanding and authentic high mountain experiences in the world, hunting at altitudes of 4,000 to 5,000 meters above sea level. 

Marco Polo
This subspecies of Marco Polo is the reference for this animal worldwide. It is the largest in size, with the most spectacular horns of all the rams in the world, with specimens of 48-50 inches easily found or even larger. As for the itinerary, the camp is situated around 4,000 meters. The accommodation is warm, heated, clean, and comfortable, with separate areas for dining, bathrooms, sauna, and bedrooms. The food is good and the service is of high quality. The hunt is designed to offer an unforgettable mountain hunting adventure, combining tradition, extreme nature, and the thrill of stalking in the Pamir Mountains.

Ibex
This subspecies of Ibex may be the largest in size, with males weighing up to approximately 130 kg. The trophies generally range between 100-150 cm and measure up to 30 cm at the base. As for the itinerary, it is designed to offer an unforgettable mountain hunting adventure, combining tradition, extreme nature, and the thrill of stalking in the Pamir Mountains.

The Hunt:
Type of Hunt: Stalking on foot and by vehicle
Dates: Mid-August to February (January and February high risk of snowfall)
Marco Polo rutting at the end of November and beginning of December.
Camp: Base camp located at an altitude of 4,000 – 5,000 m. Comfortable hunting cabins, usually heated, dining room, bedrooms, shower, and sauna.
The Hunt: Equipment check and shooting test. Daily departure in 4×4 for animal location and entry on foot. Typical shots between 300–500 m. After a successful hunt, celebration of the expedition at the base camp.

Itinerary: 
Travel Days: 8 or 10 days (6 or 8 full hunting days) - May vary
  • Flight to Istanbul-Dushanbe. Arrival in Dushanbe, reception at the airport and assistance with customs and weapon permits.
  • Journey in Toyota Land Cruiser along the Silk Road (10/12 hours with stops). Overnight in Khorog halfway. Transfer to the base camp in the Murghab–Rangkul region (6/8 hours).
  • Hunting 6 or 8 days 
  • Return home; Transfer to Khorog, sleep one night and return to Dushanbe.
