Hunting for Maral in Kazakhstan

The Hunt:

Hunting period: September 1 to November 3

Recommended period during the rut: September 15 to October 10 

Although Maral can be hunted throughout the season, the rut is definitely the most exciting time. We recommend our hunters to travel between September 15 and October 10. Of course, it cannot be guaranteed that you will arrive at the peak of the rut, as weather and temperature play an important role in timing, but during these dates you can expect to hear the marals in the forest.

The most fruitful way to hunt them is through stalking, and then waiting for the maral to come out of the forest in the morning or evening and calling it into the woods.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival at Almaty airport and domestic flight to Semey. Overnight in Semey
Day 2-3: Drive to the hunting area. Possibility of sleeping on the way. Arrive at the camp
Day 4 to 7: Maral hunting. Stalking early in the morning on horseback, using calls and waiting for responses. Waiting can also be done
Day 8-9: Transferred back to Semey and possible flight to Almaty
Day 10: Return home
