Driven Hunt at El Corchito – Jerez de los Caballeros, Badajoz
Peculiar and attractive driven hunt offered by the estate of El Corchito, located in the municipality of Jerez de los Caballeros, between the town itself and its district of Brovales. It is an open estate with a marked affinity for wild boar, becoming one of the most interesting spots in the area for fans of driven hunts.
The estate is set in a wide valley nestled between the Sierra de La Cantera, part of the Señorío de la Granja estate, and the area of Los Vidales, crossed by the Pontón stream, popularly known as the Brovales stream.
A large part of the hunting appeal of the estate lies in the almost four kilometers of brambles that accompany the course of the stream, true natural refuges for wild boar. This is complemented by the hill of the Coto de la Pared Alta, covered by a dense patch of wild olive trees, as well as the mountain areas bordering Los Vidales, where the boars find tranquility and refuge throughout the year.
Hunting is usually done with 45 stands, all of them natural. The crossings offer quick and exciting shots with shorter ranges, while the enclosures have wider and more comfortable stands. All positions are designed to ensure maximum safety during the development of the driven hunt.
To drive the area, between 12 and 15 packs of dogs are used, tasked with flushing out the wild boar from the thick brambles and patches of wild olive, providing a very entertaining day, with abundant barks and continuous shooting opportunities.
