Driven Hunt in Señorío de La Granja
Jerez de los Caballeros, Badajoz, España
Driven Hunt at Señorío de La Granja. This very tough estate is located between Jerez de los Caballeros and its district of Brovales. Inherently boar-rich, it is a dense patch of tightly packed scrubland with kermes oaks, old rockroses, wild olives, formations of scrub, strawberry trees, and some impressive thickets where the wild boar seeks refuge. Presided over by its farmhouse in the shape of a castle, it has numerous ponds and is fed by the streams of Pontón, a branch of Castaño, and the one from La Granja itself. Composed of two ridges and an immense valley where year after year a large sowing takes place, it constitutes a true paradise for wild boars that use the thick underbrush for bedding. Normally, hunting is done with sixty-five positions, all of them natural, with medium to short shooting ranges, which can see each other but are placed in a completely safe manner. Six enclosures and two crossings make up the map of this driven hunt where the wild boar makes it very difficult for dogs and hunters. It is undoubtedly a driven hunt for all those who enjoy wild boar in the open.
